The BCC Learning Center is a safe place where many youth in our church and community can come and focus on things that matter. Youth like Monica and Teliyah. I have the pleasure of watching these young ladies mature and excel every week and over the past 12 months I have seen an exponential growth in them. That’s why I’m taking the time to recognize them for their accomplishments.
The Oklahoma Public School system has a partnership with Metro Tech where high school students, in their junior and senior year, have an opportunity to attend Metro Tech free of charge. Half of the student’s academic time is spent in traditional school while the other half is spent at a career tech where students can learn marketable skills for job placement. Next year, Monica and Teliyah will both be attending Metro Tech as they prepare themselves for life after high school.
If you are in a K-Group, then get ready for the challenge of the semester!
“Count for Zero” is a 6 week study focused on fulfilling the Great Commission. In case you were wondering, that call goes out to ALL Believers everywhere. “For hundreds of years, committed Christians have gone to the ends of the earth in response to our Lords command to take the gospel to everyone everywhere! This six-week study will take [our] church through Scriptures and show [us] Gods direction for the global church and what remains to be done to fulfill Gods calling.”
Every semester we create space to allow our members to use the gifts God has blessed them (and BCC) with by helping us to form stronger, Godly, disciple-making communities. Our great desire is to see the Body of Christ at Britton Christian Church growing in their personal walk with God and helping others to do the same. That’s discipleship. One of the great ways we are doing that is through K-Groups.
K-Groups are BCC’s version of community groups, small groups, lifegroups, etc. Some of the greatest ministry to happen at BCC is happening in these groups.
to be a part of this as well! That’s why this summer we will have our annual 5 week K-Group 101 class.

What it means to host a K-Group.
The Biblical model for any small group.
Why BCC has a small group ministry and what we hope to accomplish through it.
You will also have a chance to help us launch NEW GROUPS as we join God, in creating community among our members.

Empowerment through education for an eternal reward.
Last week we wrapped up our K-Group focus on authentic community. This week we have been concentrating on what it means to TRULY worship our God. I am convinced that we cannot worship God Biblically if we are not in fellowship with His people.
I came across this powerful video which reminds me (and hopefully you) of one of the major reasons we have a ministry such as K-Groups. LOVE GOD. LOVE OTHERS. Your life depends on it!

It was a pretty somber day. The hopes and dreams for liberation had come to an end. For three years they had witnessed His authority and they had even experienced His power. He was so influential that He was able to convince them to leave their family trades. In exchange, they could potentially be abandoned by their families, possibly imprisoned, maybe – if they were lucky – they would be martyred? They thought He was the One. They expected Him to free them from the tyranny of Rome, but He was murdered like all the rest. If it could happen to Him, it could happen to anyone. And so, as they hunkered down in a room behind locked doors, in fear for their lives, they contemplated – “What next?” Who’s going to rise to take up the cause? Well, fast forward to the book of Acts.
At the beginning of each year people challenge themselves in all sorts of ways. Resolutions are being made to eat healthier, to be better parents, to read a certain number of books a month, to make better choices about relationships, and the list goes on and on. As the new semester of K-Groups approaches, I’d like you to consider taking a challenge as a church.
The 30 Day Church Challenge is a “multi-tiered discipleship program.” This powerful campaign will challenge church members to:
DEVOTE themselves to authentic community and learn that church is not a building you go to, but a family you belong to. (Acts 2:44)
DEVELOP a worship lifestyle and discover a closer walk with God. (Acts 2:46-47)
COMMIT to spiritual growth through Bible study and prayer. (Acts 2:42)
EMBRACE stewardship and a generous lifestyle and learn to manage their God-given resources – time, talents, and treasures. (Acts 2:44-45; 4:32-35)
ENGAGE in reaching out to others with the Gospel through theirs words, their love, and their life. (Acts 2:47)
Are you ready for more out of your church attendance?
What does your life look like in the areas of: Community, Worship, Spiritual Growth, Stewardship, and Outreach?
Are your strengths being sufficiently utilized by the church? What are your strengths?
Join a K-Group today and get ready for the Challenge of your life! Church isn’t a building! It’s a Body of committed followers of Jesus who are filled with His Spirit, to do His work, for His glory, that His name be lifted up so that He can save the lost and equip them to serve.

This is the question that 7 year old Bri asked her mom a couple of weeks ago after classmates made her feel uncomfortable about her teeth. Two days later I called the mother to let her know that someone has offered to remove the young girl’s baby teeth.
This picture shows exactly why I call the BCC Learning Center a ministry and NOT a program. The mentors of the Learning Center have a heart of compassion just as Jesus did. Everyday we have an opportunity to serve and too often we overlook it or we ignore it.
Harriet Wierich , co-founder and mentor for Study Buddies, exemplifies what we are trying to accomplish through this ministry. Harriet has been serving in this ministry since its inception, when life circumstances pulled her away for a little while, she came back charged up with a new zeal to minster to our kids and families.
It was Harriet who had the idea to link a problem to the solution. The young lady in the picture had baby teeth that, as of Tuesday, December 16th, had not fallen out, and when Harriet noticed that her older teeth were growing underneath the baby teeth, she knew something had to be done. Harriet shared her concern with Dr. Mike, a long time dentist-friend of hers and he was happy to help out. A partnership with King’s Klinic (another ministry of Britton Christian Church) provided the right spot to get the work done. Within a matter of minutes Dr. Mike “wiggled” those baby teeth out and Bri was all smiles, so were the rest of us in the room.
What a blessing it is to be a part of a Spirit-led ministry with people who are sensitive to the needs of others. Harriet is our Mentor of the Month and she gets a big E for EMPOWERMENT! Thanks to Harriet, Dr. Mike, and the King’s Klinic little Bri has a new confidence and doesn’t have to be overly concerned about her image!
And you thought that all we did was tutor kids in math and reading.

4 There are different kinds of gifts. But they are all given by the same Spirit.5 There are different ways to serve. But they all come from the same Lord.6 There are different ways to work. But the same God makes it possible for all of us to have all those different things. 7 The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all.
God has equipped you to serve His people!
Prayerfully consider using your gifts to minister to BCC by HOSTINGor FACILITATINGa K-Group in the coming semester. The new semester kicks off on January 11th with a large group gathering at BCC and a leader’s meeting.
“…You’ve also got to have a weekly small group. Nobody has a complete perspective on life. Every one of us has blinders on. The people in your small group can see things in your life you can’t see. That’s why we need each other! You learn from the people in your small group as you encourage each other and your roots go deeper” (emphasis added).
We are looking to introduce several NEW group options for connecting our church at the heart!
